In 2018, a small booklet titled Opera Cologne for Beginners was available for free at the Cologne Opera box office. Back then, Frank Rohde, who was Head of Theater and School in the Opera Cologne dramaturgy department, wrote this lively introduction to opera for young audiences. The booklet served as a fun and engaging guide for first-time opera visitors — I had the pleasure of illustrating it with humorous, original drawings.
You can find a link to an amusing review by Klaus J. Loderer from that year here in the project infos.
"Our destiny is not frightening because it is unreal; it is frightening because it is irreversible and unyielding. Time is a river that carries me away, but I am the river; it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire."
