Digital Arts and Teaching at Folkwang

For the 2nd Symposium for Digital Arts and Teaching at Folkwang University of the Arts, I was responsible for marketing, including advertising, posters, social media, and website maintenance.

During the symposium, students and faculty members presented a variety of projects and results within the field of digital arts and teaching. The event is part of the funded project of the same name, led by Thomas Rascher, Prorector for Events and Professor of Movement in the Acting department. The aim of the project is to create innovative formats for presentation and productive exchange, fostering discussions about the future of digital education at Folkwang beyond the current funding program. Over the course of two days, various works were showcased, offering insights into the intersection of digital arts and pedagogy. More details about the event can be found on the official website.

As a unique marketing approach to attract attention to the event, I designed and implemented an AR poster. The concept behind the poster envisioned the event location as a vast pool, with individual figures hesitating at the edge, one figure stepping in with uncertainty, and another already diving into the depths. This metaphor symbolizes the digital world that Folkwang students are immersing themselves in - a leap into the unknown, or, as the saying goes, "jumping into cold water." The AR posters were placed across all campuses, allowing for an interactive and playful marketing experience. Additionally, I created a reel demonstrating the functionality of the AR filter, further engaging the audience and enhancing the event’s visibility.

quotation

"Our destiny is not frightening because it is unreal; it is frightening because it is irreversible and unyielding. Time is a river that carries me away, but I am the river; it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire."

(Jorge Luis Borges, 1952)
