In April and May 2023, I had the opportunity to accompany the jazz piano trio "Knud" on their first tour, performing in cities such as Cologne, Bielefeld, Hildesheim, and Duisburg. My role as the fourth member of this jazz trio was to create real-time audio-reactive art, giving a visual voice to every measurable component of their music (in this case, 8 channels).
This project was a fascinating fusion of technology and art, enhancing the live performances with an additional dimension and creating an immersive multisensory experience for the audience. Using my "instruments" - the computer, projector, and lighting - I transformed the music into a dynamic visual spectacle. It was incredibly rewarding to bring jazz music and digital art together, crafting a unique experience where real-time visual artworks emerged alongside the trio's performance, reflecting the mood and flow of the music and creating a captivating, multisensory journey for the audience.
With a deep passion for music, Jona Hahn (piano), Kevin Hemkemeier (double bass), and Jonathan Schierhorn (drums) create an atmospheric soundscape that challenges expectations. Their contemporary jazz blends subtle harmonies, flowing melodies, and powerful rhythms, with original compositions that evoke raging storms and explore the duality of gravity and weightlessness.
The group photos with KNUD were taken by Aleksandra Krutikova.
"Our destiny is not frightening because it is unreal; it is frightening because it is irreversible and unyielding. Time is a river that carries me away, but I am the river; it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire."
